Frequently Asked Questions
Counseling & Coaching FAQS
Counseling vs. Coaching?
Counseling = clinical care for clients in Colorado only
Coaching = skills + growth support for clients anywhere
If you’re unsure what kind of support you need, let’s chat!
Do we have to integrate faith?
The short answer: no. Integration of faith and to what extent is up to the client.
I’ve worked with clients from various faith and non-faith orientations, and I do not expect us all to hold the same beliefs. That said, faith ties into so much of the work we do, whether or not clients realize it — it is in a degree of faith that you are reading this and considering working with me. It is by a degree of faith that there might be something better for you, empowering you to consider support. Each day, clients drive to my office and walk in expecting me to be there in good faith.
Spirituality is often overlooked in counseling settings despite that all people have values and belief systems that influence their wellbeing and how they show up in their lives. For these reasons, I invite clients to explore what faith and spirituality mean to them and the place they hold in their lives.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, I do not take insurance. I accept private pay, and HSA/FSA is often eligible for counseling clients. I’m also happy to provide superbills when appropriate.
*Please note: Some insurance companies require a formal diagnosis for HSA/FSA billing.
If cost is a concern, I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients that need them. Please reach out if you would like more information on this.
What happens on a consultation call?
A consultation call allows us to get to know one another, for me to hear more about the kind of support you’re looking for, and for you to ask any initial questions you might have. If it feels like we’re a good fit for working together, we’ll schedule your initial session and get the ball rolling!
Do you offer crisis or emergency services?
I’m unable to offer crisis or emergency services.

Neurofeedback FAQS
Is neurofeedback a substitute for counseling?
No — think of it like the difference between working out and going to a nutritionist. Both support your health and similar goals, but they work at different levels and do different things. Neurofeedback trains the underlying patterns in your brain. Counseling helps you understand and reshape what's built on top of them. For many people, combining neurofeedback with counseling has a synergistic effect. For others, neurofeedback by itself provides sufficient relief.
Is neurofeedback safe?
Neurofeedback is non-invasive — the headset only reads your brain activity; nothing is transmitted into your brain. It's been used clinically for decades and is considered safe with minimal to no side effects. Some people notice mild fatigue after early sessions, similar to how your muscles feel tired after a workout.
How long do I need to train to see results?
Most clients begin noticing shifts within 2–6 weeks of consistent training. Neurofeedback builds gradually — like learning a new skill or developing a fitness habit. Full programs can span 3–6 months depending on the severity of symptoms and client’s consistency with training.
Can I do this if I live outside of Colorado?
Yes! Neurofeedback training as a tool (outside the scope of counseling) is available to clients anywhere. Clients wanting to engage in neurofeedback alongside counseling with me must be Colorado residents. I’m happy to discuss this in more depth on your consult call.
